Promise Land Market opened in 2013 in Downtown Morehead City near the historic Promise Land district named by folks who relocated there following a hurricane that devasted the area. In order to bring fine wine, craft beer, and artisanal cheese plates to Morehead City, David Quinn and Gerhardt Schnibben, local friends, worked to create a rustic, coastal vibe with historic roots. Using reclaimed wood from David's farm, flooring from the Carteret Lanes Bowling alley, the Old Morehead Mansion planks, and lots of vintage photos, Promise Land has a retro, cozy vibe that celebrates the past while embracing modern values of locally sourced, small production, North Carolina food, wine, and cocktails as much as possible.
Since that time, Promise Land has expanded into three unique spaces. The original Wine Shop space continues to focus on small production wines that cannot be found in grocery stores. The wine shop is the center of wine education in our community and the home of our wine club. The Dining Room is a casual, cozy space where friends and family share rustic, coastal dishes and daily specials for lunch and supper. The Mullet Bar is a space to view the big game, listen to live music, and challenge your friends to Foosball on our vintage table.
We think there is something for everyone at our shop and hope to see you in the Promise Land soon.
